RICK ROCHA

Brazilian director, writer, editor, producer and actor based in New York City. An alumnus of LaGuardia High School’s Drama Department and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, Rick made his filmmaking debut with the short Solipsism (2019), which premiered at Anthology Film Archives. He quickly became culturally cemented in New York’s vibrant downtown independent film scene, centered around the East Village.

He followed with the experimental comedy pilot Parallax and a string of acclaimed shorts including Brief Story, The Snag Trilogy, and Eldorado. A music video for Theophilus London and Julien Granel, luxury fashion campaigns for Leret-Leret, Leben, and One Block Down, the special Adidas Originals promotion Fire Finder starring Julia Fox and Lucien Smith, and ongoing freelance directing for Numéro New York digital.
In 2025, Rick wrote and directed the psychological thriller feature The Method, starring Eric Roberts and Conlan Kisilewicz. The film screened as Closing Night at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and was selected for the Rochester Film Festival, Downtown Festival (Roxy Cinema), Bowery Film Festival, New York Indie Shorts, and others.

As a playwright and performer, Rick co-wrote and directed the play TEETH (Zephyr Theater, 2023). In 2025 he wrote and performed in the new play What Came Up from Mason’s Hole at Paradise Factory. He has appeared in numerous stage productions including The Tangibles (2017), Bitches (2019), and Fail to Prepare (2021), and wrote and performed in the comedy Stallions (2023) at The Slipper Room. He most recently appeared in Crystal Moselle’s The Black Sea (2024).
